Account information: Username, email address, and optional birthday
Profile details: Profile photo, bio, and social links you choose to add
Content you create: Rings (photos and videos), comments, and messages
Interactions: Likes, shares, follows, and other social activity
Device information: Device type, operating system, and app version
Usage data: Video watch duration, completion rates, and feature usage

Birthday Information

Your birthday is collected to verify you meet our minimum age requirement of 13 years old. This information is stored securely and is not publicly displayed. You can view your birthday in your profile settings.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve our services

To personalize your experience and show relevant content
To communicate with you about updates and features
To ensure safety and security of our platform

Direct Messages

We store message content, timestamps, and metadata (read receipts, delivery status)
Typing indicators are transmitted in real-time
Messages are not end-to-end encrypted, but we use encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
You can edit or unsend messages within 5 minutes of sending
Deleting a message removes it from your view; the recipient may still have access

Service Providers

We work with trusted service providers to deliver our services:

Firebase (Google): User authentication, database storage, and push notifications
Cloudflare R2: Media file storage (photos and videos)
Video processing servers: Optimize video playback quality

These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations and only process your data as instructed by us.

Push Notifications

We collect device tokens to send notifications about messages, likes, comments, and follows
You can control notification preferences in your device and app settings
Device tokens are only shared with Firebase Cloud Messaging

Public Content

All accounts on Wateeno are public by default
Your profile and rings are visible to other users
Private information (email, birthday, device info) is never publicly displayed

Data Security

Encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest
Two-factor authentication (SMS and authenticator apps) available
Regular security practices and monitoring

No method of transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

Information retained while your account is active
Messages retained until you delete them
Account deletion permanently removes all your data from our systems

Data Export

You can request a copy of your personal data at any time through the app's settings. We provide exports in JSON, HTML, and CSV formats, including your profile, rings, comments, messages sent, and other account data.

Children's Privacy

Wateeno is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us to have it deleted.

Access, update, or delete your information through app settings
Block or restrict other users
Mute conversations to stop notifications
Request a copy of your data or account deletion

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
